Jakarta-January 2020, Two Danone-AQUA factories once again received two Gold Company Performance Rating Assessment Programs (PROPER) Award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). For the 2018-2019 period, the Gold PROPER Award was won by the Mambal AQUA Factory, Bali and the Klaten AQUA Factory, Central Java. The Gold PROPER award was handed over on January 8, 2020 by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin to representatives of the Bali Mambal AQUA Factory and the Klaten AQUA Factory at the Republic of Indonesia's Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

In addition to the Gold category, on the same occasion, eight other AQUA Factories also received the Green PROPER Award which was handed over directly by the Minister of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Siti Nurbaya Bakar to representatives of the Mekarsari AQUA Factory, AQUA Babakanpari Factory, AQUA Subang Factory, AQUA Factory Cianjur, AQUA Ciherang Factory, Wonosobo AQUA Factory, Pandaan AQUA Factory, and Airmadidi AQUA Factory.

Proper is an attempt by the government to encourage companies in Indonesia to have compliance with environmental management. This award was given by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) by measuring the Company's sustainability performance through various initiatives that have been carried out. PROPER performance ratings are divided into five colors namely Gold, Green, Blue, Red and Black. For aspects of minimal compliance is Blue, Red and Black. Whereas the criteria for evaluating aspects that fall into the category of more than those required (beyond compliance) are Green and Gold. For the period 2018-2019 there were 2050 companies from various industrial sectors following the assessment process. Gold PROPER Award recipients totaling 26 companies, including the Klaten AQUA Factory and Mambal AQUA Factory. While the recipients of the Green PROPER Award for this period were 174 companies from all over Indonesia.

Every year since 2011, factories in AQUA nominated by the local Environment Agency have gone through a series of assessment processes to ensure compliance with environmental management regulations. The process also measures the performance of sustainability initiatives that have been implemented by the company both internally and externally.

Muhammad Azwar, Danone-AQUA's Director of Nature and Process Technology (WRNPT) Water Resources explained, "PROPER assessment is measured from the application of the principles of sustainable development in the production and service processes, the application of environmental management systems, 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), efficiency energy, resource conservation and ethical and responsible business conduct through the community development program. This is in line with Danone's vision, One Planet One Health, where we believe that the health of our planet is closely related to public health, "Azwar explained.

For example, the Klaten AQUA Factory developed the Pusur Institute as an integrated environmental management institution for the Pusur River Sub-Basin. This institution involves various stakeholders to maintain the Pusur Lestari River. Programs that have been developed start from upstream conservation, downstream waste management, development of River Tubing Pusur Adventure tourism, mentoring vulnerable groups, to environmentally friendly agriculture. "Integration and synergy formed at the Pusur Institute become one of the manifestations of the company's participation and contribution to sustainability as part of the company's residents in Klaten," added Azwar. Whereas in Bali, the Mambal AQUA Factory encourages environmentally friendly agriculture through the Sustainable Mambal Program and drives agriculture by one of which recruits young farmers to take part and remain productive while preserving nature.

Through various initiatives that have been carried out by Danone-AQUA so far in various operational areas, it is recorded that currently Danone-AQUA has successfully carried out various conservation efforts by planting more than 2.5 million trees, building more than 1,300 infiltration wells, building more than 57,000 biopori, as well as building rain harvest facilities. In addition, Danone-AQUA also developed a carbon footprint reduction program by encouraging the use of renewable energy and succeeded in reducing the carbon footprint by 2,399 tons of CO2 and carrying out energy efficiency by 22,920 Giga Joules (GJ). In developing the circular economy, Danone-AQUA has collected 12,000 tons of used plastic bottles every year to be reproduced into plastic drink bottles and to become a company that 70% of its business is fully circular.
